Carpet Cleaning Process

Step 1: Pre Inspection

After introducing ourselves and greeting you with a warm smile, we will do a walk through inspection of your carpet to identify your carpet's condition and point out potential permanent stains before any work is started. We will measure all the areas that you would like cleaned and give you a written price based off the square footage of the rooms and of anything else you would like cleaned including upholstery or area rugs. Please be sure to inform us of any concerns you might have before we start cleaning so that we may be able to serve you better.

Do you have ugly black lines along edges and under doors? To find out how to get rid of them, take a look at out Filtration Soiling section.

Step 2: Setup/Furniture Moving

We will bring in all our cleaning equipment and materials that we need and set them up accordingly. These include hoses, cleaning tools, cleaning products, corner guards, protective shoe covers, etc. If asked to do so, we will be glad to move any furniture such as sofas, chairs and coffee tables. Larger pieces such as beds, dressers, and entertainment centers will not be moved due to their size and weight. While cleaning, we will place foam blocks or plastic squares underneath any furniture that we move so that there aren't any issues with furniture stain or rust caused by furniture being placed on wet carpet. Please inform us of any furniture with weak legs, loose tops or previous repairs.

Step 3: Pre-Spot

Areas that we pointed out as potential problem stains will be pre-treated with different products depending on what the spots are. This a key factor for removing the spots during the cleaning process.

Step 4: Pre-Spray

Carpeted area that we are to clean is pre-sprayed with a bio-degradable carpet detergent that will sit on the carpet to break up the soil, dirt, grime and whatever else is lodged in your carpet fibers. We have two different detergents that may be used depending on the soil level and severity of damage to the carpet. Please see the information page we will provide at the time of cleaning or ask us about our Hypo-allergenic cleaner if you are sensitive to scents of any kind.

Step 5: Extract and Rinse

Once the soil has been loosened, our state-of-the art truck mounted hot water extraction cleaning process will thoroughly flush the carpet pile. Pressure and heat (180°-190° F) are regulated to prevent the carpet from being overly-wet, while still sanitizing your carpet thoroughly.

Step 6: Speed Dry

High velocity Turbo Dryers are placed on the carpet to speed the drying time. Generally speaking, the carpets are 70% dry by the time we leave and will take roughly 3-5 hours to dry completely

Step 7: Encapsulation Clean

Preferred Carpet Care will use this rotary cleaning machine on any carpet areas that still have soil remaining due to extra heavy foot traffic such as in hallways.

Step 8: Post Spot Treatment

If ANY spots are not removed during the cleaning process, specialty spotting techniques are employed. Note: Some stains may be permanent. Our technician will identify these stains for you.

Step 9: Carpet Grooming

We will hand groom all cleaned areas with a carpet rake that gives your carpet a “finished” look. This step also aids in evenly coating carpet fibers with the protector if you had us apply it to your carpet.

Step 10: Post Cleaning Inspection

Our technician will do a final walk-through with you to point out the cleaning results to make sure that you are completely thrilled with the job we have done. We will then leave you a sheet with some helpful tips for your carpet and proceed to collect payment. After sincerely thanking you for the opportunity to serve you, we will part ways and look forward to seeing you again.
