We use a machine built just for this (the RugBadger EL), delivering over 25,000 harmonic vibrations a minute. Being able to not only loosen but remove stubborn soil and sediments caught deep in the fibers of any area rug. Of course, this is not a full extraction that rinses and sanitizes, so be sure to choose "Deep Clean" as well to ge the most out of your stylish rug.
